Home Base Nation

Fulfillment Of Trust, Part I - Featuring General (Ret.) Fred M. Franks, Jr.

Episode Summary

We launch Season 3 of Home Base Nation, as Host Dr. Ron Hirschberg sits with Home Base colleague and leader, 4-star (ret.) Army General Fred Franks. In Part I, we talk about how 50 years ago, losing his leg in combat may have been painful and a major struggle, but it led to igniting what General Franks calls "a hot blue flame" that kept him going, in order to get back into combat and command years later in the Gulf War. We discuss the emotional day in 2017 at Fenway Park at the annual Run To Home Base* when he looked out to a crowd of fellow Vietnam Veterans, followed by sharing hugs, smiles and tears. General Franks reflects on leadership, listening, and most of all, always aiming to fulfill that trust both overseas and at home.
